Bayern Munich fire Carlo Ancelotti

Greetings, FC Bayern fans! Carlos Ancelotti is no longer the manager at FC Bayern Munich. In a statement, FC Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge announced the decision, a day after the embarrassing loss against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Rummenigge, who is good friends with Ancelotti, had offered the job to Ancelotti during a lunch meeting last year. Hence, Rummenigge stressed in his statement that this was a professional decision, and that he and Ancelotti will continue to be friends. Rummenigge continued, “The performance of our team since the start of the season did not meet the expectations that we set for them. The game in Paris clearly proved, that we had to act.

In a press conference, sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić  stated that assistant manager Willy Sagnol will taker over as interim manager for the Sunday’s Bundesliga matchup against Hertha BSC Berlin.

Club president Uli Hoeneß expressed a goal of having an announcement for the new manager by the end of the two week international break.
